2011 Feast of Local Flavours

What would a conference about healthy food and farming be without delicious local, sustainable food?

The 2011 Feast of Local Flavours was hosted by Elmhirst Resort. The menu featured delicious, fresh food from Elmhirst’s farm and from Peterborough and Kawartha farmers, celebrating the tastes of the region.

The dinner was preceded by a local craft beer tasting by the lovely Tracy Phillippi and featuring the beer of Churchkey Brewing!

Menu

  • Black Angus beef carving station (from Elmhirst’s very own cows)
  • local chicken
  • a vegan option, TBD
  • local potatoes, garden vegetables and salads
  • featured local products on buffet – local cheese, etc.
  • wild rice pudding

Elmhirst

Elmhirst’s Resort is located 90 minutes east of Toronto on the north shore of Rice Lake. Spread over 240 acres, the Resort, still family owned and operated, caters to an international market year round – the fields are grazed by Black Angus Beef cattle – bred and raised for the dining room; free range chickens produce the eggs for the kitchen; vegetable and herb gardens provide the freshest produce and the greenhouse features an array of flowering plants. Our wine cellar features premium Canadian wines not readily available in liquor stores.

Tickets

Included the beer tasting, a glass of wine, appetizers, a banquet-style meal and dessert.
